POP COLOR In this project you will select a photo from the field trip, park or downtown area that you would like to be in black and white except for one POP of color. Look at the photos you took to fill the category of color in the city. You want the color in the photo to be the focal point, make sure the thing you make colorful is not something in the background of the photo.
STEP 1 Open one of your most colorful field trip or spring break photos.
STEP 2 Once open copy another layer.
STEP 3 Copy the layer one more time so that there are three copies.
STEP 4 Change the third layer to Black and White Image >Adjustments>Black & White
STEP 5 At the bottom of the Layers Palette Add a mask to the Black and White layer
STEP 6 Use the paint brush, set the color to black and begin painting in the area you would like to be in color.
STEP 7 Zoom in and continue painting, make sure you use a smaller brush size where needed and that the edges of the painted area are crisp and clean.
If you make a mistake painting, change the color to white and paint over your mistake.
When you are finished painting you can go back to your first background copy and change the Hue and Saturation of the colors if needed. Image>Adjustments>Hue and Saturation
