•"Macro" lenses specifically designed for close-up work, with a long barrel for close focusing and optimized for high reproduction ratios, are one of the most common tools for macro photography used by professional photographers.
We will be using the Macro setting on the point and shoot cameras or macro lens clips on phones.
When shooting Macro you need to get very close to the subjects. Sometimes it can be difficult to make sure your photos are in focus. You may not know if they are truly in focus until the photos are downloaded onto the computer to see.
Set-up for the shot on the left. Results on the right. You will often get a shallow depth of field.
Assignment You will be going outside or to the greenhouse to take some Macro photos. You can choose to use a camera set to the Macro setting or your phone with a Macro lens or both. You will need to take 12 photos. Print out a contact sheet.
